Cartonnage with Cathie

Looking for a new craft? Join instructor Cathie Heier at the studio to learn the art of Cartonnage! Cartonnage is the process of covering chipboard with fabric to build beautiful, useful things. We will be making a simple storage box that is perfect for your pens, scissors, rulers, paintbrushes, or other things. Crafters may also choose to create a reusable notebook cover to match their storage box (notebook not included.) This is an advanced project and intended for guests aged 15 and up.

You will need to bring 2 different coordinating pieces of cotton fabric to complete your project (2 fat quarters to do the box only, and 1/3 yard each piece if doing both the box and cover.) Fabric can be provided by the instructor for an additional $5 for just the box or $7 for both projects (please select this option at checkout so we know to have fabric available for you.) Available color choices are shown below, but note that there is a limited supply of each; fabric selection will occur at the event on a first come, first serve basis. It will take approximately 3 hours to complete your box and 4 hours to complete both projects.

Ticket cost is $47 per person and includes materials and specialty tools needed to create one (1) storage box; please bring your own fabric or add fabric for an additonal $5. You can also choose to add on the reusable notebook project for $13 plus an additional $2 for fabric; please note the notebook is an ADD-ON ONLY and cannot be done on its own for this workshop. Total cost for both projects is $60 plus $7 if fabric is being provided for you.)

A $12 deposit is required to reserve your spot, with the remaining balance due the day of the event. All ticket purchases are final; sales are non-refundable and non-transferable. *No Refunds. Studio credit will be issued if the event is missed to use toward a future visit. Spaces are limited, and reservations are required.

Over the years I have done numerous crafts and when a friend introduced me to Cartonnage 4 years ago I was hooked. I love fabric and to be able to make such unique things, for myself or to personalize for gifts, is so fun.”
